Faisal Islamic Bank (Sudan) was established in accordance with Temporary Order (09) (1977) dated 04/04/1977. In May 1977, 84 Sudanese and Saudi founders as well as other nationals of some Islamic States, met and adopted the idea of establishing the They prescribed and paid up half of the authorized capital. On 18/8/1977, Faisal Islamic Bank was registered as a public limited Company according to the Ordinance 2015. The Bank commenced operations in May1978.

It became one of the largest banking institutions in the country in terms of its broad and diversified shareholder base. The branches spread all over the capital and most of the states of Sudan.
